About this event
Software engineering and AI for industry
Production & IT Rankweil is aimed at CIOs, heads of IT and plant managers, as well as anyone responsible for digitalisation and OT in their company. This year's programme focuses on industrial AI and the security of production networks.
EBCONT builds and runs custom software for industrial companies and has been using AI agents in development for some time. We share what we have learned in these projects in two sessions in Rankweil.
360° Software Engineering in Practice: From Requirements and DevOps to an AI-Boosted Large-Scale Project
11:20–11:30 a.m. | Keynote
The project at the heart of this keynote started on a greenfield and has since grown to almost 30 experts. Gerhard Hanzmann, Head of EBCONT West, and Dietmar Stefani, Chairman of the Board of Justalis Holding, talk about how the EBCONT and PKE teams run the project together and why the targeted use of AI noticeably sped up development this year.
The talk is a first-hand account from an ongoing project, aimed at anyone responsible for larger software initiatives in industry.
From AI Strategy to Productive Software Development
13:25–14:10 p.m. | Interactive Breakout Sessioin, Track B: Industrial AI
Many development teams have tried AI assistants by now. It gets harder when AI agents are supposed to work productively in an enterprise setting, because questions of governance and accountability need answers before the first agent picks up a ticket. In this session, Sebastian Schenk, Authorised Officer and Executive Vice President Web Technologies at EBCONT, uses a real example to show what an AI-supported development workflow looks like. He explains where developers still make the decisions and why responsibility for quality stays with people. He then discusses experiences from enterprise projects with participants, along with the regulatory requirements that apply to using AI in Europe.
Talk to us in Rankweil
Gerhard Hanzmann and Sebastian Schenk will be at the Firmament on 11 November. If you are thinking about using AI agents in your own software development or are planning a larger project, just catch them during the breaks.
